Hi,
My name is Andria Raine, also known as Caraholic4life on other Corvair forums for the past fifteen plus years. I live in Westminster Maryland.
Back when Russ had this forum, I was a member. After the forum shut down for renovations, I never rejoined when it came back up. Recently I rejoined and look forward to getting to know you here.
My Corvair involvement began in 1962 when Dad brought home a new Monza Wagon. My first car was a 1963 500 PG Coupe that was sold before I got tags on it.
My second became a parts car for the third (Both 1965 CORSA Convertibles) that I drove through High School.
Sometime around 1973 I saw my first V8 Corvair. It was an early model that I think may have had a Tempest Transaxle but can't confirm that. In or about 1983 I purchased a 1966 Monza coupe from a friend that was a running driving Kelmark conversion. The car had been taken apart to paint it when something else caught my friend's eye and I acquired it then had the fun of getting it painted and reassembled. I enjoyed the car until 1999 when I sold it to a young guy that proceeded to treat it with less respect than it deserved and within a year or he sold it.
The individual that next owned the car was an enthusiast that had plans for the car. Those plans were never realized and he passed away this past April. The son tracked me down and contacted me thinking that I had been the one to build the car. He was looking for enough information about the car that he could speak intelligently about it to perspective buyers when he advertised it. I saved him that problem once I saw the car and recognized it as absolutely being my old car. I simply could not resist owning it once again.
I have posted photo's of the car in other parts of this forum including what it looked like before I owned it. I plan to post more as time permits during it's road to recovery.
My plan is to leave it a Kelmark conversion with a low horsepower small block Chevrolet engine. Reliability and the "Cool" factor are my immediate goals for the car.
