Are you planning to attend the convention this July 6-11th in San Diego? The V-8 Registry has a full schedule of activities and many high profile people and conversions are expected. There should be a story there for you to write.
For example, do you recognize the name Charlie Friend? Charlie drives the fastest Corvair on earth. He competes in open road racing in NM and TX. He drives at 200+ mph. Charlie is 79 and is competing for what he says is his last season of racing. Charlie has said that if he and the car survive the April races, he will bring his Corvair conversion to San Diego.
Ted Trevor had two shop cars that he used to test new ideas for the Corvair Crown kits. One was a yellow 1966 Corsa coupe with a 327 cu in SB Chevy engine and the other was a Black 1965 Corsa coupe that once sported an L88 427 cu in Big Block engine. We're hoping that both of the Shop Cars will be on hand at the convention.
Numerous high profile Corvair conversions with modern running gear are expected for Friday's CORSA autocross. This promises to be an open course set up with several fast straightaways. The autocross is scheduled for Friday, July 10th and will be held in the San Diego Football Stadium parking lot. This is a 'must-see' event for V-8 guys. A number of high profile V-8 Conversions will be running. This event starts at about 9:30 AM and runs until about 3:00 PM.

Trevor Harris met Ted Trevor in 1967 when Ted was looking for an automotive specialist to perform the design work for his Crown Corv-8 kits and to engineer some suspension upgrades. Trevor Harris only worked about a year at Crown Manufacturing. He then started Harris Dynamics a short distance away and even manufactured subframes in his shop for Ted's very popular Corvair Crown kits. He has served as an automotive engineer, suspension specialist and inventor, who has worked since the '60s with many automotive racing projects. He is best known for his design work that's associated with Shadow Formula 1 car, Toyota Group 6 Prototype, the Crown Corv-8 and his involvement with Peter Brock at BRE (Brock Racing Enterprises). He's 82, but still involved with Harris Dynamics where he was involved with many IndyCar programs. Mr. Harris has numerous patents registered in his name. Trevor is now 82 and is still actively working.
Archibald Evans is a talented fabricator, mechanic and car builder. He knew Ted Trevor and built Corvair Conversions of his own including the SuperVair. The SuperVair has a custom-built transaxle that can handle the torque of the Brodix 506 ci Big Block Chevy V-8
