Here it is time for the Mitty Challenge.

It's time again to get ready for the Mitty. Come watch Mike Levine and his ground pounder V8 Vair run with the big dogs.

This year’s Mitty update is going to be a challenge for me. As most of you know I
sold my race car to a vintage racer in England. That’s right, it’s in the UK as we
speak although I have yet to hear from the new owner Jim Chapman of
Lymington. He was vintage racing a Mustang but decided to look around for
something different when he found the Sunoco Corvair on the internet.
I was not thinking of selling my car at all as we had just returned from the
Savannah Speed Classic held at the Grand Prize of America track on
Hutchinson Island at Savannah GA. The car ran great all week end and we had
a terrific time.

I was planning my 2015 season when I received an email from Jim
asking if I’d consider selling my car. I said everything I have is for sale; it’s just a
matter of price. So I gave him my ”I really don’t want to sell it” price and after a
while he agreed to it! Now what? After much thought and consultation I
realized I’d be a fool not to sell it. I certainly could not get near that price on my
best day here. After some requested changes to the car to meet his vintage
rules for which he paid extra it was packed up and shipped off on its way to its
new home and owner. Jim has promised to keep me informed as to his progress.
I am sure I will get more than a few emails and calls when questions about the
car arise as he is a complete neophyte with Corvairs. He has a steep learning
curve ahead of him. I offered to come over and crew for him if he paid
expenses. I haven’t heard back on that yet!
