Plexi-glass as engine cover

Know there's a few on here that are using "transparent" engine covers. Would like to know what you're using and any issues with it. Apparently plexi moulds around 290 degrees. Is it possible to reach those temps in an enclosed mid engine?

If you recall I have a divider in plexi glass attached to my roll bar and once sealed to the rear side windows works great you will still need a place to have the heat escape mine exits through the rear air intake and works very well

Did your car pass the out of province??

No luck yet on certification. Was thinking of a cover over the engine but am concerned because I've closed off the rear air intake under the window and ducted it for cold air intake. Engine heat will have to move over diff and exit under trunk.

As you know heat rises you might consider leaving the middle of the rear open for the heat to escape as well maybe a scoop under the car to force air into the engine bay and that may encourage the heated air to leave.. I now drive with the rear windows up as I have sealing strips to keep all the fumes from the rear out of the passenger area and I do feel a lot of heat coming from the rear intake vent

The cover over my Subaru never gets too hot to put your hand on it. I cut a vent hole at the base of the back window so air vents out the outside grill. Ventilation around the engine is very good. I tried to add a couple of pics but they are too large.

I used 1/2 inch Lexan for my cover. We tried to do a bubble just for kicks. We got the lexan to 345 degrees and couldn't get it to move. I figured with all the air coming through the engine bay as well as the louvers on the trunk lid should keep bad stuff from happening. I guess time will tell

Those are nice clean installs. I may have to rethink how I want to finish this car.
