Randy's car has something that few of our cars have - creature comforts. It has an electronically controlled 4 speed automatic along with power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. THE QUESTION ALWAYS ASKED ON MY CAR IS "WHAT FRAME IS IT ON "???? THE ANSWER IS, I USED A 1980 MALIBU STEERING SECTION
WITH ABOUT 3 FOOT OF THE MALIBU FRAME AND WELDED IT INTO THE CORVAIR SUBFRAME. FROM THAT SECTION TO THE REAR SUBFRAME, I USED 2"BY3" TUBING AND EVERYTHING IS WELDED SOLID TO THE CORVAIR FLOORPAN. I USED A TRANSMISSION CROSSMEMBER FROM AN S-10 BLAZER, THE REAR END IS AN S-10 PICKUP WITH 3:08 RATIO. I USED JEEP LEAF SPRINGS AND MADE MY OWN
MOUNTING BRACKETS. THE LT1 ENGINE AND 4L60E TRANY WORKS GREAT IS THIS BODY. THE CAR HAS AC, P/S, AND POWER DISC BRAKES.
THE COOLING IS HANDLED BY A 4 ROW RADIATOR AND TWIN FLEX-A -LITE FANS. I OPENED UP THE PAN BELOW THE BUMPER AND BUILT A
SPOILER SO IT WOULD NOT MESS UP THE CLASSIC CORVAIR FACE. THE INTERIOR IS DONE IN ORIGINAL STYLING EXCEPT THE LARGE HUMP
IN THE FLOOR PAN FOR THE TRANNY AND DRIVESHAFT TUNNEL. THE CAR BASICLY LOOKS NORMAL EXCEPT FOR THE AIR ENTRY SPOILER
AND THE 4 OVAL EXHAUST TIPS.IT IS A 1965 MONZA WITH 1966 INTERIOR PARTS AND SOME CORSA TRIM PARTS. I KNOW ITS NOT CORRECT TO THE ORIGINAL GUYS ,BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A CAR WITH A FUEL INJECETED, WATER COOLED V8 ENGINE, SO WHAT
ELSE CAN BE SAID. ANY QUESTION ????? FIRE AWAY.......................C YA
