A while back it was mentioned on the Corvair Forum, and possibly on the Corvair Center Forum as well, that Clark's no longer has these input shafts in stock, YET they still show as available in their online website catalog.
I have not confirmed this one way or another.
Back in July 2024 after getting my old car back, I ordered and received a New input shaft from Clark's just so I could have an unused spare in addition to the used spare and the one currently in the car. I doubt I will ever need either but they are nice to have, if for nothing else, piece of mind.
Fortunately for me, in the sixteen years I drove my Kelmark Corvair there was never any issue with the one in the car.
When I sold the car, I passed along a New Spare that I had for it "Just in case".
When I reacquired the car twenty-five years later, I was able to BUY a used one from the seller, which I suspect was probably the original one from the car and my new spare had been installed at some point but this is only a guess.
Now all I need to do is find a qualified individual to install the Richmond Reverse Ring and Pinion in the differential for me.
Since these gears are difficult to find these days, I do not want to risk an improper set up.
Even though I am within an hour of the Corvair Ranch in Gettysburg, PA, I know they do set up differentials but at the same time, I am unsure if they have the expertise needed to properly set up these particular gears.
IF anyone here can direct me to such an individual with known experience with this procedure, I would appreciate some direction.
I am on the East Coast close to Washington D.C. and Baltimore MD. and less than an hour south of the Corvair Ranch.
