My 1966 Kelmark found me after 25 years.

Hi everyone.

I am not new to the V8 Registry as I was a member before it was updated years ago. Once it was updated, I did not re-register until recently.

I have a 1966 Corvair that was originally a Monza coupe that now appears to be a CORSA if one doesn't look to close at the V.I.N.

Back in 1983 I purchased this car as a sort of basket case from a longtime friend that lost interest in it when another project caught his eye.

When I bought the car, it was a running, driving car that had been stripped to bare metal to be painted and had no interior. It was essentially a basket case.

By 1984 the car had been painted and was presentable. I enjoyed the car for sixteen years before selling it in 1999. Twenty Five Years later, it found me and I could not resist buying it back.

Unfortunately the kid I had sold it to did not treat it all that well before selling it within a year or two to an enthusiast that "Had Plans for it" but never got around to doing much other than store the car in a dry garage for twenty plus years. This individual sadly passed away this past April and his son tracked me down as he was under the impression that I had built the car.

The son wanted to know more about the car so he could speak intelligently about it when he advertised it for sale. I made arrangements to look at the car and once I saw it, I immediately recognized that it was indeed my old car and couldn't buy it from the family fast enough.

At this point, I am gathering parts and planning what will be done with the car in order to bring it back to a presentable and reliable condition.

I have belonged to both the Corvair Forum and Corvair Center Forum for about fifteen years with the user name of Caraholic4life but for the moment only participate on the Corvair Forum.

This was my first look at the car after not seeing it for 25 years.
