I can’t help with the Big Saginaw and C5 but I wanted to stress
the importance of using the right overall gearing.

The difference between a standard and close ratio trans ratio alone can be
dramatic.

I’d strongly suggest reviewing a gear calculator site like Tremec.com/calculators.php
to setup the best car possible.
