leaking trans case

leaking trans case

Postby Tom Z » Thu Feb 06, 2014 4:51 am

I just fixed the side cover on the modified big-car case (hopefully!) I did a few years ago..I had Moser re-spline a few solid main shafts to the Corvair pinion, and added the Corvair diff bolt pattern by welding the iron case..There was a 'bump' on the side cover gasket area that caused the gear oil to leak out; the secondary leak from the diff yoke seal is an easy fix,and *should have* this back together quickly..I *NEED* the bench-space!!

the trans is pretty much together again, just need to put a new input seal and snap ring on the front bearing/retainer; then it's lugging it out to bolt to the diff that still needs side yoke seals..the car is butt-end in snow outside right now,but may get the re-man 4.3/ 2GC inside to try to fire up-- but "there is another",,a fresh un assembled 4.3 that *could get* the 2bbl TBI
