Crown Shifter Details

Crown Shifter Details

Postby Wiley Wilhelm » Fri Aug 26, 2016 8:37 pm

I just bought a '65 Monza with a Crown Conversion. The car is missing the shift linkage adapter that goes around the oil pan. Does anyone have a picture or drawings of what it looks like? Note sure if it is possible to find one for sale or if I need to make it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Registry members. Wiley is our newest member and he lives in Anchorage, Alaska. He needs some help finding a shift linkage adapter. Can anyone offer him a part or advice on making the part?

Thank you for the pictures. Any thoughts on the dimensions of the offset and length of the adapter?

I've down-loaded the installation instructions for the kit but I don't remember seeing any reference to indexing the adapter. I assume that it should be as high as possible in reverse and 1st for best ground clearance (thinking speed bumps). This puts it on the right side of the oil pan, under the spin on oil filter of the 283. is this right? or am I missing something?

I also have some conflicts with the e-brake cables, so I will have to move the tie into the original cable further forward.

John,

If you are missing the Crown U-tube, I would look through the postings under things that people have for sale. I found one a while back from a fellow member that advertised that he had a bunch of Crown parts for sale. As far the B&M shifter, I've never seen one. A stock Corvair shifter works pretty well.
