Powerglide to C5 Differential Adaptor Parts - W/ Trans Case

Postby Rick Andersen » Sun Dec 06, 2015 1:59 am

Here are some photos and details of parts I want to sell - m My design of this big car PG to Corvette C5 diff adapter with locator and seal plate. Includes a very good GM powerglide case with new output bushing, rebuilt TCI 1.82 ratio reinforced housing planetary, modulator plug, o-rings and hardware. Would prefer to sell everything in photos same time. Adapter is one of two made and I am using the other. Mounts to case studs and nuts using tail housing and rear pump threaded holes. Will provide more details for mounting. Length from bell housing face to axle center is 22 3/32 inches. $990 firm.

I wish I had gone that route onas Arch Evans suggested to me early on rather than chasing this 4 spd Crown set up."Loose the 4 spd and go power glide". Why don't I listen

I again listed my C5 diff to powerglide adapter and all parts in photos on ebay at reduced price with free ship. The item numbers are 222032501845. If anyone is thinking about changing to a C5 diff on the powerglide now is the chance for needed parts. Thanks.

I chatted with a guy at the 2016 FBT who regrets his PG. It doesn't have the launch and response at low speeds that he'd like.
His comment was that you needed more displacement, his is a 327 or 350?

Launch, low speed response:
Obviously cam, drive ratio, converter, and expectations all affect how happy you are with a particular setup.
I see lockup converter kits for various automatics, including Powerglide. A bit higher stall converter with lockup control could really make a difference!

While my car is not a pure strip car due to the 3.17:1 ratio, it's 60 ft. times weren't terrible. It was with a 350 putting out right at 400 flywheel hp, a powerglide with a 2800/3200 stall converter and w 3.17:1 C5 differential and street tires. Best 60 ft. time was 2.037. I expect my new combination will be a little better with a 5.3L LS, 750 carb., race built powerglide. I have another C5 differential with 3.42:1 that I need to go thru and build mounting plates and that would make a huge difference.
