Crown Input Shaft

Postby Rick Andersen » Thu Nov 03, 2022 9:04 pm

I want to convert my Crown Corv8 327/ Powerglide Auto trans to a 327/ Corvair 4 speed Saginaw Trans. With the Powerglide the car is a real dog! I just purchased a rebuilt 4 speed Corvair Saginaw and it appears that I need a custom input shaft in order to connect the 327 engine to the Corvair transmission. I don't have any of the original Crown literature, so I am totally in the dark. Does anyone know of such a shaft or anyone that can fabricate one - or the specs for the shaft?

I am certain that the input shaft is no different than a standard Saginaw, Mike Levine helped me with updating the transaxle several year ago using large rollers instead of the needle rollers. My input shaft is a two groove.
