LS engines

I’m really surprised how much better I like The LS engine vs my old high performance small block.

I’d strongly suggest considering going to the LS if you’re considering a rebuild.
The smaller 4.8 might also be the best version of the LS for a standard Crown setup due to its lower torque.

If the $$ is available for one to go that route lots of benefits can be had as well as better drivability and performance.

I switched to a 5.3LS instead of completely rebuilding my tired 350. There is a little learning step but the engines are MUCH easier to do mechanical work on than the old small block. Plus they are starting out with considerably more base hp than the base small block. I changed mine over to ARP fasteners to eliminate the torque to yield issues and that really simplifies things. The prices are finally coming down to affordable levels and good power levels can be built, even with the 4.8.
